My name is Armando Vera Carvajal. I am an introvert, type INFP. Hablo español. Je parle français. I speak english. So parlare italiano. I am a visual creative and I express myself mainly through photography, painting, drawing, videography, and writing. I live in Austin, Texas but call many places home, including Mexico City, Paris, Singapore, and McAllen. I immigrated to the United States of America when I was four years old and grew up in south Texas just a few minutes from the Mexican border. Life in this strange country has always presented me with an endless array of challenges an obstacles. Yet, this situation has presented an opportunity for me to learn and grow with conviction.
My time in life is spent primarily innovating as an entrepreneur who helps other entrepreneurs, exploring the world with an open mind, and finding my purpose through art, books, and travel. Adventure, discovery, and the unknown are what my heart most desires, and you will often find me daydreaming about my next little adventure to the backcountry or big expedition to the most remote corners of the world. Mountaineering, trekking, and diving are some of the more thrilling activities that I continuously seek in life while reading about ancient civilizations and the future of humanity is something I enjoy doing beside a cup of black coffee.
I experience life unconventionally and seek to understand its many layers and shades of meaning. This is why my photography is candid, my art abstract, my videography asymmetric, and my writing mysterious. Whatever it is I create, you can rest assured that it does not document obvious, factual situations which anyone can take for granted. Instead, my motivation is always to capture new moments and places which subconsciously express a unique diversity of emotions, norms, and values. I do this to find the inherent truth of any given moment. I also do this to capture an honest snapshot of reality, one that most people forget to observe.
Over the past decade, I’ve served as a tech entrepreneur and am now working on my second startup called Hangtight, a mobile app leveraging AI to optimize the group chat experiences and boost community engagement. Beyond this, my ultimate goal in life is to create original films, write stories, and produce artworks that provoke true thought, inspire profound emotion, and bring countless joy and hope to billions of hearts and minds around the world. Whether you enjoy art, photography, film, or reading stories, I sincerely hope my work is able to help you realize there is always more to life than meets the eye when seen from different perspectives.
